ROSACEA & REDNESS

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by persistent redness, visible blood vessels, and sensitivity, most commonly affecting the central areas of the face including the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. It is a complex and often misunderstood condition that goes beyond simple skin sensitivity, involving a disregulation of the skin’s vascular, immune, and nervous systems that causes the blood vessels beneath the skin to become overreactive and dilated. Rosacea typically develops in adults between the ages of 30 and 50 and tends to affect those with fairer skin tones more commonly, though it can occur in all skin types. It often presents in cycles of flare-ups and remission, with symptoms worsening in response to a range of triggers such as heat, sun exposure, spicy food, alcohol, stress, and certain skincare products. In addition to redness and flushing, rosacea can also present with small red bumps or pustules resembling acne, a burning or stinging sensation, and in more advanced cases, a thickening of the skin around the nose known as rhinophyma. General redness and skin flushing that does not meet the full criteria for rosacea can also be a standalone concern, often caused by sensitive or reactive skin, broken capillaries, or environmental triggers.

While rosacea is not curable, it is highly manageable with the right approach. At The Golden Hive, our treatments are designed to reduce visible redness, calm inflammation, strengthen the skin’s barrier, and minimise the frequency and intensity of flare-ups — helping you feel more comfortable and confident in your skin every day.

What Causes Rosacea & Redness?

In rosacea-prone skin, the blood vessels beneath the surface are overreactive and prone to dilation, causing persistent redness, flushing, and the appearance of visible capillaries that do not fully constrict after being triggered.
